10 Things To Know About Reiss Tailoring

14.03.17

From advice on which fit is right for you to what to expect from our personal tailoring service, we reveal everything you need to know about Reiss men's suits and tailoring

1. FABRIC IS SOURCED FROM BRITISH & ITALIAN MILLS

Our menswear team travels all over the world to source a variety of different fabrics for our men's suits and personal tailoring offering every season. The majority of our fabrics however are from Italian mills and the Alfred Brown mill in Yorkshire, England.

2. WE USE HORN BUTTONS

Although sometimes we will use an alternative type of button that aesthetically enhances the appearance of our tailoring, the majority of our suits have been designed with traditional horn buttons.

3. OUR SUITS ARE DESIGNED AROUND THREE CORE FITS

All of our suits have been cut for a classic, modern or slim fit. The classic fit offers a timeless shape, the modern fit offers a versatile silhouette, while the slim fit offers a contemporary, streamlined shape.

4. NOT ALL OF OUR TAILORING IS DESIGNED AS A SET

We recognise that no two men are the same and ultimately, the way a suit is worn is down to the needs of its wearer. As a result, we offer three piece suits, two piece suits and individual blazers and trousers which have been designed as standalone pieces.

5. WE OFFER A PERSONAL TAILORING SERVICE

Alongside our seasonal ready-to-wear tailoring, we offer a dedicated Personal Tailoring service. From fabric and lining to cuts and trims, across 17 stages we allow you to customise fine details as you create your perfect suit.

6. EACH BLAZER’S LINING DIFFERS

We offer a variety of lining options to suit different needs. Fully lined blazers offer maximum insulation while buggy lined blazers ensure that tailoring keeps its shape while its wearer keeps cool.

7. AMF STITCHING DETAIL APPEARS ON SELECT TAILORING

Some of our tailoring designs feature AMF stitching which offers a classic tailored finish and helps to keep suit edges pristine.

8. FABRICS AREN’T JUST SELECTED FOR THEIR APPEARANCE

A lot more goes into the selection of the fabric for our tailoring than meets the eye. The fabrics we use include: wool worsteds, cotton, linen and linen blends and worsted super 100s, 120s and 130s. All of these fabrics offer a different aesthetic or functional purpose, varying in intricacy of design and lightness of wear.

9. BLAZER LENGTHS HAVE BEEN CUT FOR DIFFERENT NEEDS

Each suit blazer's length has been designed for its influence on the suit’s overall silhouette. Longer jackets have been designed for classic style while shorter jackets offer a more contemporary finish and complement shorter men.

10. INTERNAL CONSTRUCTION IS LIGHTER FOR SUMMER TAILORING

From chest pieces to shoulder pads, we alter the properties of our blazers’ internal construction. For some blazers this summer we have taken down the weight in our construction to help create soft, lightweight shoulders which have a relaxed feel while maintaining a formal appearance.
