The newly opened Reiss store in Toronto is positioned in the city’s prestigious shopping centre and along with the Reiss Creative Director, James Spreckley, architectural design agency, d-Raw worked to create an interior that’s at once in-line with the Reiss aesthetic and unique to its location. The team looked to traditional 20th century pavilion design for inspiration, re-creating the look with high ceilings and modern materials. The result is a sleek, gallery-inspired aesthetic.
In-store displays are considered in-line with the overall look and a series of seemingly suspended statement smoked brass ‘fins’ run from floor to ceiling throughout the store, working to communicate the brand’s design-led sensibility through structure as well as clothing. Upon entering the store, customers are met with striking stainless steel and distressed bronze liquid metal but towards the back of the room, materials become tonally warmer with white Carrara marble and oil-brushed timber taking over.
The cash desk is crafted from marble, but in an unexpected blue hue – a statement feature that offsets the natural paradise plant and soft white pebble accents.
