Marie Dessuant - Part two14.02.13
It’s the weekend in part two of our feature as Marie Dessuant, Parisian furniture designer and our first London Lives girl talks us through her favourite spots in the capital, her ultimate weekend and what she loves to wear while she enjoys it.
About the Shoot
Marie gave us her slant on the capital, and told us what she loves about London style, how it differs to getting dressed up in Paris and what she chooses to wear during her nine-to-five.
This week, part two moves into the weekend as we discover how Marie spends her downtime.
Living in Peckham, south London, Marie admits it’s her favourite part of the city, “I like south London as it has lots of creativity and a good mix of people, from really different cultures.”
“On weekends I like to visit galleries and go walking in different areas. As I’m still exploring London, there are many, many exciting things to see,” Marie continues.
The South London Gallery in Marie’s stomping ground, Peckham, is a firm favourite, “I like the South London Gallery, it’s one of my favourite places because you can just pop in,” explains Marie, “it’s never crowded, there’s always something new and cultural to see, which can influence your work,” she continues.
But as much as Marie loves an afternoon at an exhibition, she likes to get her fair share of outdoor time, too.
“During the summer I love to go to the park, I think it’s one of the great things about London. There are not so many big cities where you have such great space in the middle of the city,” says Marie.
So what does an ideal weekend consist of?
“First of all, a long time of sleep!” Marie exclaims. “Then, the park or an exhibition, and as a French girl, I love to spend time with friends and boyfriend at cafes,” she continues. “And after, a nice restaurant and a nice party!”
And what does Marie like to wear on the weekend when the sun shines?
“I’m really fond of pastel colours, so summer for me is just a pleasure to dress for.”
As spring/summer is her favourite season, we weren’t surprised when Marie offered up the following advice, “it’s so simple to dress and look good during the summer. Just wear a beautiful dress - it’s really easy!”
So go forth, explore your city and wear a dress – just like Marie.
