IN THE DIARYMEN'SWOMEN'S
February is for many, the month when we’re ready to start doing things again. If January was a bit ‘dry’ with diabolical bank balances, then February brings with it a feeling of freshness and a little excitement to re-awaken our social lives.
So, this month we’re ready to be inspired, from fashion week – both on and off the catwalk – to new art and photography exhibitions and a little bit of lovin’, there’s plenty to look forward to during this short but sweet month.
Exploring the history of 20th Century art through textiles, this new exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum opened last Friday and runs until the 17th May. With colourful, rich and exciting work from the likes of Dali, Picasso, Warhol and Matisse, you’ll find over 200 rare pieces on display, presenting how the ordinary person relates to modern art through what they wear or furnish their houses with. There are some great evenings planned too, with talks on Lucienne Day’s work as well as the influence Lee Miller had on fashion.

Kick-starting the year’s most fashionable month on the 6th in New York, fashion week frenzy begins stateside before crossing the Atlantic to London, and then on to Milan before finishing things up in Paris in early March. Expect your twitter and instagram feeds to be flooded with catwalk shots, behind-the-scenes pictures and of course, plenty of street style. Keep your eyes closely locked on us as Reiss Live gets started with the help from guest bloggers, who’ll be reporting straight from the FROW.
Running from the 6th February-1st June, this unmissable exhibition of David Bailey’s legendary work presents over 250 photographs personally-selected and printed by Bailey himself. Illustrating the wide range of subjects Bailey has captured, a series of rooms display incredible portraits, from a bouncy-haired Kate Moss, to his beautiful wife Catherine, pictures from pubs in the east end of London and work from east Africa and Papua New Guinea. A must-see for photography fans – so book your tickets asap.
