This season, it's tone-on-tone layering that will transform classic pieces into trend-focused looks. Whether its neutral parchment tones or rich burgundy hues that you favour, when styled head-to-toe, they take on a bold aesthetic that feels altogether fresh. We asked fashion expert and blogger, Isabella Thorsden to put a personal spin on the trend, and the result is an array of beautifully pieced-together outfits that are sure to inspire. Follow her lead and layer up in style. For a closer look, head to Isabella's blog, or follow her on Instagram.

Isabella mixes textures and shapes to master the tone-on-tone layering trend, resulting in three very different outfits that capture the look perfectly. From sharply tailored trousers to enveloping knits and structured leather bikers, each combination is beautifully relevant and perfect for this time of year. We caught up with her to find out more about what her favourite new-season trends are, how she got into the blogging industry and what’s on her wishlist this Christmas.

Describe your personal style in three words.

Classic, on-trend, natural colours.

Who is your ultimate style icon and why?

I find my inspiration in a lot of places, but I would say my all-time favourite style icon/icons are the Olsen Twins.

What inspired you to start your blog and what is your favourite part about being a blogger?

I started my blog 6-7 years ago. I was very interested in Fashion and Design, and at that time I wanted to become a Designer. I started my blog to share my passion with other young people like myself and I was one of the first bloggers in Denmark which meant that it grew fast. It has provided me with a lot of opportunities and has helped me to get to where I am today, which I am so thankful for. It’s a non-stop full time job but I love it and I can't imagine being without my blog and my amazing followers.

What is your favourite AW15 trend?

That’s a hard one, because I have a few. I love roll-neck jumpers and super high-neck tops this season but my favourite AW15 trend has to be all the amazing tailoring. I've always had a thing for oversized tailoring that has a touch of androgynous style about it, so I'm really happy that its back in this season.

What is your go-to outfit if all else fails?

My go to look is my favourite high-waisted skinny jeans, an oversized basic T-shirt in black, white or grey, tucked in and paired with classic black heels and a biker jacket. This is a look I often wear for last minute meetings, work and it even works for going out when teamed with a colorful lipstick and a nice cross-body bag.

How do you switch up your styling from day to night?

If I know I'm going out after work, I always wear my favourite skinny jeans. They go with everything and they never disappoint. I pack another top to change into, add some colorful lipstick, fix my hair, apply a slick of liquid eyeliner, switch to a pair of heels and I'm ready to go.

What item of clothing can you not live without?

I couldn’t live without an oversized white T-shirt. It's timeless, classic, perfect for layering and can easily be dressed up or down to suit many different occasions.

What are your top tips for styling tone-on-tone separates?

I love to wear head-to-toe one colour looks but they can be a bit tricky to style. I try to pick different nuances of the same colour and clashing fabrics like leather and wool to break up the tones.

Which Reiss pieces are on your wishlist this season?

The amazing  single-breasted Kendra blazer. It’s a classic item that will stay with me season after season.
