In fashion speak AW13, or autumn/winter 2013, has already started. The problem is, we're not quite ready to part with our lightweight wardrobe and step into heavy autumnal pieces. So, our design team has created a light, simple and feminine collection of garments and pooled them into one wearable micro trend; Modern Femininity. We take a look at the inspiration behind it.

Clean, modern and simple, Modern Femininity borrows from the past, but has a fascination with the future. So retro-inspired silhouettes pick up on the feminine while texture, fabrication and detail is forward-thinking and contemporary.

The trend is based very much on how women are dressing now, and the team drew inspiration from street style blogs, classic icons and even girls in the Reiss office and they way there were dressing - with an undiluted simplicity.

The colours are soft and elegant; black, white, grey, inky blue, lavender, lilac, rose and absinthe. All cleansing, refreshing and subtle, making them easy enough to incorporate into your wardrobe.

Fabrics are uncompromisingly luxe. The trend is centred around simplicity, so the pieces must be beautiful. Expect pure silk, modern parachute cotton, butter-soft leather, double-faced crepe and whisper-fine knits.

Best of all, the collection is perfectly suited to real life where we get up, go to work, meet our friends and have fun. Clothes to be worn and enjoyed - just perfect for the modern, feminine woman.
