REISS LOVES: SHEEPSKIN

05.12.12

Sure enough, as soon as December rolled in, so did the cold weather. We're hoping this means we've waved goodbye to dismal drizzle and driving rain, moving into crisp, cold and sunny days on the lead up to Christmas - for sartorial reasons if nothing else. When temperatures drop and the rain stays at bay, there's nothing more comforting, warm and stylish to wear than a luxurious sheepskin coat.

Wear it cool and casual

Rich tobacco sheepskin, a huge fluffy collar and tipped with leather, our Henry coat has a cool, Seventies look and feel. The short, peacoat shape makes it ultra-wearable and we think it works for dress up or dress down days. Place a modern spin on this beautiful coat by playing with textures; try leather trousers and a chunky knit for ultimate cosiness.

Wear it smart and stylish

At the smarter end of the scale sits our Colberg coat. A little longer and more overtly luxurious, this velvety black style is an investment piece. Wear it with sky-high leather boots and a soft, whisper-thin sweater for unmistakable winter time elegance. Or, dress it down with a beanie hat, tailored trouser and a mannish brogue for something a little more contemporary.

However you wear it, avoid the rain and treat your sheepskin with a little TLC, it's an investment piece which can last a lifetime if you look after it well.

1. Treat it from a distance with light mist of a non-silicone stain repellent spray before wear.

2. Remove small marks with a suede eraser.

3. Always use a specialist leather dry clean.

3. If it gets wet hang to dry in a cool, dry place.

4. Store it in a breathable bag when stowing away between seasons.
