Murdock was established in Shoreditch in 2006 and now has four stores across the capital - Shoreditch, Mayfair, Covent Garden and Soho; the latter being a store-within-a-store in London's incredible department store, Liberty.
The gentlemen of Reiss HQ are not an ungroomed bunch: we're no strangers to the barber's chair, and we like to look our best at all times. So finding the best places to have our hair trimmed and our beards shaved is a weekly discussion for us: and this week, we love Murdock London.
As you'd expect from a combination of Murdock and Liberty, the salon is very old-School-gentlemanly; lots of wood panelling and vintage style bottles. The emphasis here is on authenticity; shaves are cut-throat and hairstyles, like the one Mr. Reiss opted for, tend towards a suitably retro quiff.
We were seen to by the very charming and extremely talented barber, Gavin Sharp, who had been relocated to Liberty following a small fire at his beloved Mayfair store (don't ask him about the three pairs of boots he lost in the fire). As well as all the usual niceties you'd expect from a top barber - the head massage, the drinks, the consultation, for instance - Gavin was attentive to the extreme, and Mr. Reiss left looking his most dapper self. The final treat from this gentleman's mecca? A spritz of one of the delicious Murdock colognes. Why, the bus home has never seen such glamour.
