NYC may not have been my stomping ground for long, but I've certainly become well-acquainted with my new home city, and have already bookmarked my go-to hotspots for when UK friends come to visit. Here are my favourite places to eat, drink, sleep, shop and see in New York city.

Dubbed one of the most extraordinary restaurants in the USA by the New York Times, Roberta’s in Bushwick is a pizza place well worth a visit. The restaurant sits in a desolate area of Bushwick, yet attracts bespectacled hipsters, intrepid tourists, pizza lovers and cozy couples.  Don’t be disgusted by the décor, this place is cooel as!

1st up Union Pool.  Go mid-week to avoid the crowds and if you feel a little late night snack attack enjoy food from the El Diablo taco truck out back!  Drinks are reasonable and photobooth fun is an absolute must.

For something a little more sophisticated pull up a pew at Maison Premiere, Inspired by hotel lobbies of days gone by and afternoons in Paris this is THE best Oyster bar in Brooklyn!  The bar boasts the biggest collection of premium Absinthes, so my advice would be to check yourself before you wreck yourself and stick to the wine list!

I can’t say I’ve slept anywhere other than my own bed since living in New York!  However, one of my must do’s to tick off the list before leaving, is to stay in a Manhattan facing suite in The Wythe Hotel.  With floor to ceiling windows this has got to be one hell of a way to wake up!

Embark on a Sunday adventure, take the water boat from East 34th Street Manhattan across the river to North 6th St Brooklyn and waltz right into the Williamsburg Flea.  The flea features French furnishings, awesome antiques and a huge collection of clothes.  With a vast variety of food vendors pick up a light bite and perch in the surrounding park for a photo opportunity against the Manhattan skyline.

As you’ll have noticed there’s a theme running through this post, yes Manhattan is magical but take a trip out of the city because five minutes off the Island and in my opinion there’s a better scene in Brooklyn!
