14.01.15

London Collections: Men AW15 proved to be yet another riotously inventive celebration of British menswear, and already the sartorial agenda for this year's closing chapter has been stylishly asserted. Here, we pick the brains of some of the London menswear scene's best dressed men. They tell us their highlights of the showcase and shed light on what is currently providing sartorial inspiration for AW15's showcase.

Chris John Millington wears: the Leoni black leather zip jacket, the Note black merino wool roll neck jumper, the Delta black slim-fit tailored trousers

Which menswear trends do you anticipate will dominate this season’s shows?

I would say faux fur outerwear and wider leg flared trousers as I have seen these reoccurring in the shows and at the last AW season.

What will you be wearing to the shows and how do you decide what you will wear?

The AW shows are my favourite purely because they play to my style, I’m a big fan of Scandinavian fashion, chunky knits, long coats, wool trousers, boots, ahh it’s brilliant. For me, I’ll be keeping it simple, I’m very rarely seen without a leather jacket or a herringbone coat, so I’ll be sticking with those. I’ve really enjoyed the return of the roll neck, they’ll be all over the place and I’ll be involved in that!

What are the most important items that you can’t live without during LC:M?

Honestly, a good pair of comfy, woollen socks. You cannot underestimate the amount of walking that you do during LC:M, having comfortable feet is absolutely paramount to your survival. It’s a concrete jungle, out there.

Which show will be the highlight of your LC:M schedule?

I’m a big fan of Sibling, they always have lovely shows, great models and the looks are always brilliant. I’m really looking forward to that. Also really keen to see the new collection from Pringle of Scotland, I love their work and my Grandfather was a massive fan of theirs, I feel like I’m going for him, whenever I see their shows.

Whose LC:M style do you admire and why?

Kano always dresses well for LC:M, I absolutely love that guy. I also always enjoy the style choices of Nas Abraham, he’s always immaculately dressed and pulls off so many different types of looks.

What is your favourite part of LC:M?

For me, it is just speaking with everyone in the showrooms and seeing how they’ve progressed over the last 6 months. I have a lot of friends involved this year so it’s honestly just a great event for men to celebrate the thing that ultimately draws us all together for a weekend; fashion.

Between shows, where do you hang out?

I actually don’t have much of a routine, I just see where the days take me! I’ve got loads of people to see this weekend so I’ll be all over the place catching up with everyone, I’m looking forward to it.

What has inspired your LC:M styling for this season?

I spent some time in Scandinavia last year, Copenhagen and Stockholm are such style-centric cities, I love their aesthetic, I think that I’ve taken a lot of influence from that.

What will you be wearing to the shows and how do you decide what you will wear?

I will be wearing outfits that have a mixture of high fashion, contemporary and classic styling.

I usually wear something that is inspired by classic tailoring but with a twist as I do like to make my outfits look a little quirky and interesting.

What are the most important items that you can’t live without during LC:M?

My eyewear. Once I have my eyewear sorted that's when I feel my outfit is finally complete.

I also couldn't live without my phone and my tablet at LC:M, they are both great for taking photos and checking my social media. Plus this is the only time I use my tablet.

Which show will be the highlight of your LC:M schedule?

I would say the MAN show, I always look forward to seeing this show it is always very bold and exciting with up-and-coming designers.

Whose LC:M style do you admire and why?

Well I heard that Nick Wooster is down in London for LC:M this season. I admire his style because he has the perfect balance of modern and classic styling. He always looks very chic but smart at the same time.

What is your favourite part of LC:M?

Meeting and greeting all the brands in the show rooms. I like to mingle and network. It's always great to meet like-minded people with a passion for menswear.

Between shows, where do you hang out?

I like to hang out at the Hospital Club or Costa around the corner. Both very chilled out and great for waiting in between shows or recharging your technology.

What has inspired your LC:M styling for this season?

Well I usually dress very formal but for the last couple seasons I have been going for smart sartorial type outfits with a twist provided by bold colours or prints. So, I decided to have another shot at  going for this once again. I would say that my inspiration comes from high fashion styling mixed with styling from the streets of Savile Row.

Which menswear trends do you anticipate will dominate this season’s shows?

I would say faux fur outerwear and wider leg flared trousers as I have seen these reoccurring in the shows and at the last AW season.

CRAIG LANDALE

Menswearstyle.co.uk

Craig Landale wears: the Antonio black textured silk tie, the Savanna navy houndstooth shirt, the Julius blue wool suit, the Conrad ox blood pebble grain Derby shoes What will you be wearing to the shows and how do you decide what you will wear? I'll be wearing a few 'street smarts' outfits. Tailoring mixed with sportswear and casualwear to give a formal yet comfortable look. What are the most important items that you can’t live without during LC:M? I need a strong coffee in the morning and then I just need my smartphone and a note pad. That's pretty much it; simple. Which show will be the highlight of your LC:M schedule? I've been attending since the first LC:M and over the years the designers which have stood out for me are Hackett, Burberry and Oliver Spencer. Whose LC:M style do you admire and why? David Gandy never fails to impress, especially the year he turned up to a show in a convertible classic car. What is your favourite part of LC:M? I enjoy spotting celebrities on the front row and seeing new collections that are wearable and to my taste. Between shows, where do you hang out? When I'm on my own I actually head to the cafe at the British Museum. It's empty with just a few random tourists, so it’s a great place to truly get away from the buzz of the shows to relax. What has inspired your LC:M styling for this season? The fact that I'll be on my feet all day means that I'll be picking clothing which is comfortable and not too restrictive. Which menswear trends do you anticipate will dominate this season’s shows? Wearable technology keeps getting pushed to new heights. Hate it or love it, it's sure to be featured by a designer or two.
