LONDON'S BANK HOLIDAY HOTSPOTS

THE BRUNCH SPOT: DALLOWAY TERRACE

Dalloway Terrace has been designed as an indoor-outdoor all-day dining destination in the heart of Bloomsbury and provides an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of its central London location. The covered, heated terrace gives the allure of an outdoor dining space will all the appeal of the warmth inside, and what’s more? The décor is so considered and the atmosphere so relaxed that you’ll never want to leave. From early morning breakfast to freshly prepped afternoon tea and exotic cocktails, there’s something within the menus to suit everyone. 16-22 Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3NN

THE VIEW: THE TRAFALGAR HOTEL

For premium cocktails with a view to match, why not head to Vista, the panoramic bar situated on the roof of The Trafalgar Hotel? Overlooking – you guessed it – Trafalgar Square and open only when the weather suits, it makes for a picturesque spot and a great way to appreciate the beauty of the city. If you’re a local, head there on the Friday to kick off your weekend celebrations in style, and if you’re visiting, it makes the perfect pit-stop from a day exploring the sites.

THE SUMMER POP-UP: NIGHT TALES

Night Tales is back for another season and this time it’s positioned in the midst of Hackney Wick – a little harder to get to for most than last year’s Old Street spot but well worth the journey. It makes its way into our London round-up yet again but there’s reasoning behind it as Saturday marks the end of this season’s residency. Expect the usual; DJs, drinks and street food, plus the new addition of a sun terrace and bar. If you’re yet to pay a visit, it could be one to add to your Friday-night agenda – they’re sure to pull out the stops for closing weekend at this East London venue.

THE CULTURE HIT: EXHIBITIONISM, THE ROLLING STONES

If, in typical English fashion, the weather takes a turn for the worse this Bank Holiday weekend, there are always a host of indoor activities available to fill your day. Topping our list until the end of its residency on the 4th September is the Saatchi Gallery’s Rolling Stones exhibit, aptly named Exhibitionism. Featuring over 500 items from photography to behind-the-scenes footage, stage designs to album art, it’s a true celebration of the career of these rock’n’roll legends. Book tickets now so you’re guaranteed a spot.

Until 4th of September

THE COCKTAILS: BLIXEN

Positioned in the midst of Old Spitalfields market and designed with its own mini indoor oasis, Blixen is a picturesque setting whether you’re there for a mid-morning breakfast, late-night cocktails or anything in between. We suggest heading there for drinks after an afternoon browsing the market, but be sure to request the conservatory seating to make the most of the unique interior.

THE STREET FOOD: MALTBY STREET MARKET

Tucked away in an unassuming corner of Bermondsey and just a short walk from London Bridge’s non-stop pace of life, think of Maltby Street Market as Borough Market’s cooler, lesser known little sister. On the LASSCO Ropewalk, Maltby Street Market plays host to food and drink stalls, independent bars and eateries and various antiques and nick knack shops. Head there on Saturday and Sunday mornings for some of the most delicious street food in London then set up stall in one of the Ropewalk’s many watering holes during the afternoon. If you’re still feeling steady-footed, you can always turn would-be interior designer in one of the market’s eclectic reclaimed furniture havens.
