Lisa Dengler: My AW14 Edit27.08.14
Fashion blogger and front row favourite Lisa Dengler of Just Another Fashion Blog, stepped straight off a plane from New York this month and made a beeline for Reiss HQ to select her hero staples from our AW14 collection. In between fittings – from slipping into sumptuous leather skirts to pulling on sharply tailored blazers – we found out which fashion essentials she can’t live without, the style icons that continue to inspire her, and the ultimate day-to-night switch-up we could all learn from.
What inspired your edit of our AW14 collection?
I’m all about perfect wardrobe essentials, especially for autumn, and Reiss knew exactly what I was looking for! From the ultimate tailored suit with a slight edge, to a cute leather skirt and the most beautiful cropped trench I’ve seen in a long time. Every piece I picked out can be worn in multiple ways, dressed up or dressed down, and are pieces I will love and cherish for a long time.
How best would you describe your style?
My style is very easy-going with an urban edge. I’m inspired a lot by Scandinavian style as a base, mixed in with some Parisian chic and a small dose of New York attitude, depending on my mood.
When travelling, what are your suitcase essentials?
When I’m travelling I always pick my absolute favourite pieces - ones I know I’ll wear a lot and won’t get sick of. In that mix is my ultimate pair of black jeans; a Breton striped top; a nice black or white blazer; sneakers and/or Birkenstocks for walking around; black loafers for meetings; black stilettos for a night out; basic tees and tanks; and a white boyfriend shirt. It’s the accessories I bring that add that little bit extra.
Who is your ultimate style icon and why?
I’ve always been fascinated by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. They are the best at perfecting wardrobe essentials - as demonstrated by their designs for The Row. They know how to effortlessly stand out in a crowd and always do their own thing. They seem to be about 3 years ahead of us fashion-wise.
How does your day-to-night dressing differ?
I just switch my flats for heels and then add a leather jacket on top, and maybe a hat of sorts. I like mixing edgy with a subtle sexiness for after-dark dressing, and during the day I’m very easy-going and comfortable.
Going behind-the-scenes to meet our design team and learn of the inspiration behind the AW14 collection – think modern architectural references, ‘90s-inspired minimalism and subtle ‘30s nostalgia – Lisa scanned over our vibrant moodboards, rifled through our illustrated samples, and explored our floor-to-ceiling glass offices.
