MY LC:M - OLIVER CHESHIRE ON STYLE

15.06.14

To celebrate the arrival of LC:M SS15, we're asking some of the event's most stylish stalwarts for their trend tips, favourite memories and most anticipated shows. First up model Oliver Cheshire waxes lyrical about swapping notes with Samuel L. Jackson, favourite fashion week pit stops, and whose style he'll have his eyes firmly on in-between the shows.

What are the LC:M essentials that you can’t live without?

My Mophie extra battery case for my mobile as I’ll be on my phone a lot over the three days tweeting, using Instagram and taking notes.

Which show are you most looking forward to seeing?

Topman, as there is always such a hype before the show starts and it really pushes the boundaries with the clothes and production - last season they made it rain inside.  Oliver Spencer is always on my hit list as he has such a swag and street realness about his collection and he also has a few surprises in terms of the models in the show.

Between shows, where is your favourite place to take a break?

Upstairs at The Hospital Club is always a great place to grab some food and re-group.  It's always a nice and chilled away from the fashion storm that takes over London at this time of year.  Also Topman do a pop up in a pub next to the Old Sorting Office which is great for a cheeky drink and catch up with people you haven't seen in a while.  They always have something cool going on.

What is your sartorial inspiration/which trends will you be wearing for LC:M?

A modern take on '50s rockabilly style.  It's important to keep it subtle as you don't want to end up looking like an extra on a film set.  Also, I'm loving boxy bowling shirts with Cuban collars.

Which menswear trends do you expect to see emerge at the shows?

I think there is going to be a lot of check and light pastel tailoring, with a nod to the late '70s and early '80s. I'm expecting lightly tinted sunglasses and I think patterns are still going to dominate the runways with florals taking on darker, more wearable shades.

What is your favourite LC:M memory?

My favourite LC:M memory has to be my first ever Hackett show.  Not only was the show in a beautiful, grand building on the Thames with impeccably tailored checked suits shown throughout, but I somehow managed to be seated next to Samuel L. Jackson who gave me the inside information on what he loved from the show and what he would be wearing from it.  Another great memory was opening the Dolce and Gabbana show at LC:M last summer, where we walked from Claridge's to their new shop on New Bond Street using the street as a catwalk.  It was a special show as many of my friends walked in it too and all the models were from my agency, Select Model Management.

Who is your most stylish LC:M attendee?

Luke Day, the Fashion Director of GQ Style. In my eyes, he always nails it. He is remarkably ahead of the breaking trends and executes his look perfectly with his effortless style.
