KIDS CO INTERNS: MEET CHARLENE

10.08.12

Our Reiss/Kids Co. Internship scheme is well underway and we’ve been gradually introducing you to those behind the scheme and those involved in it. Last week we met Albin, who’s interning with our accessories design department, and this week, we leave head office and hit the stores, to catch up our next Reiss/Kids Co. mentee, Charlene, who's interning with our visual merchandising team. Charlene has answered our fast fashion Q&A, along with her mentor, Dominique Georgiou. Check out their answers! You can follow our interns’ progress here and at Grazia Daily, and look out for #KidsCoInterns updates on twitter.

Charlene's Q&A

Who is your fashion icon?

My fashion icon would have to be Alexander McQueen, he created  masterpieces and had an amazing mind which he showed through his work.

What is your favourite thing to wear at the moment?

My gold art deco earrings.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Everything and everywhere... Though texture is definitely a big deal for me.

What would be your dream job in fashion?

I'm unsure. I'm totally in love with visual merchandising, but I feel there's still so many creative aspects within fashion that I'd also like to explore before making my final decision.

What are you most looking forward to during your internship?

I am looking forward to continuing to learn the different aspects of working in visual merchandising and then perfecting it, so I can then portray the brand's high standards effectively.

Dominique's Q&A

Who is your fashion icon?

I couldn't chose just one, I would merge the glamour of the Kardashians with the edgy chic of the Olsen twins, their label, 'The Row', is amazing.

What is your favourite thing to wear at the moment?

Definitely a colour pop transitional knit (like the new Mits knit in neon yellow) with a sheer shirt underneath.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

I draw inspiration from a variety of outlets; fashion blogs, magazines and browsing stores are usually my first port of call visually. And, Portobello Road is always a great place to go!

What would be your dream job if you weren't in fashion?

To perform in West End musicals... 'Phantom of the Opera' to be specific!

What are you most looking forward to about your mentorship?

I am really looking forward to spending time with Charlene, passing on all that I know and have learnt along my career journey, so that hopefully she becomes a step closer to realising and achieving her career dreams.
