I love London: Abdul Buhari

South Londoner, Abdul Buhari, is a discus thrower and part of Team GB. Keeping our fingers crossed for a medal at London 2012, we’ll all be cheering him on when he competes in the first round on Monday. Growing up in south London, we caught up with Abdul and asked him what he loves about our capital and where his favourite city hangouts are.

London is a stylish city because...

It has the balance of everything; from fashion within the walls of High Street Kensington to wonderful food in and around the centre of town.

London is blessed with history in the form of Big Ben, right in the heart of Westminster and also eye-catching architecture, like that of the London Eye.

It has an eclectic and diverse atmosphere with a good feeling of optimism in the air. It's always full of exciting surprises.

My favourite place in London is...

The South Bank. It is somewhere l spent a lot of time as a teenager; I went to secondary school in the area, worked at the London Eye and saw it transform into a cosmopolitan place. It draws inspiration from lots of talented and creative people, and as l am not very creative, l love spending time in that area.

Abdul will be throwing in the qualifying round of the discus on Monday 6th August from 10am.
