MWD: HOW TO DRESS LAYERED TONES

27.02.14

Whether you opt for timeless tones or try blacking out your ensemble this season, take your sartorial cue from one hue and then run with it.

BLACK OUT

Dressing head-to-toe in black may not reinvent the wheel sartorially speaking, but for us the considered yet insouciant appeal of all black is hard to deny. How to stay up-to-date? Keep your silhouette sharp and entertain the merits of subtle textural difference such as the weave of a knit or the grain of a leather. Don't want to go whole hog? Opt for tan shoes or a tan belt to break up the black.

BLANC CANVAS

For SS14, few looks make such perfect sartorial sense as layered-up shades of cream and white. Our tip for wearing this look? Soften your aesthetic by opting for shades of muted cream and stone over stark white, and ensure that you wear the look only when the weather will allow.

THE BLUES

Arguably one of menswear's most utilised colours, in its many forms blue will marry well with all manner of wardrobe staples. However, for the season ahead we're opening our minds to the aesthetic benefits of building blue on top of other blues. Be experimental; team cornflower blue with darkest midnight blue, or pit cobalt blue against natty navy.
