Having already captured our interest with her post on the History of the Tux, we had a fancy that Sophia of Girl in Menswear might be partial to wearing a tuxedo herself. So, here she is sporting our Limited Edition Angelina jacket and Dion cigarette trousers, persauding us to swap our LBDs for tuxedos this party season.

This season I'm abandoning sparkles and spangles in favour of a sleeker and more subtle look. I'm trading in my Christmas party frock for an androgynous tuxedo, complete with satin lapels and pocket trims. Meet Angelina and Dion, my fail-safe duo of crisp tailored jacket and cigarette trousers.

With a tuxedo the devil is in the detail, and I love the satin seam running down the back of this jacket and the way it nips in comfortably at the waist to create a flattering silhouette. The tailored trousers have a satin waistband that sits low on the hips and the creases in the front and back of the trouser legs lengthen your lower half, which is always welcomed!

I've paired my tuxedo with a nude lace top to add a feminine flavour to an otherwise masculine aesthetic, and I've finished it off with sky high lace up heels.

Wearing a tuxedo can be statement enough so I've gone for a bold lip colour and non-fussy hair. Add a  simple clutch bag and drape your finest knee-length coat over your shoulders, and you've got an effortlessly chic look ideal for formal winter evenings.
