What’s happening in your city over Christmas?
One thing I can say is that it’s really, really cold here in Montreal! Though it doesn’t affect my obsession with Christmas, given the lovely decorations and lights meeting never ending snow, it is indeed a winter wonderland. To be completely honest I prefer Quebec City over Montreal during Christmas time, since over there you literally enter a fairy tale set-up. Ice-skating people, German Christmas markets, lights, music… everything is perfect. If you ever get the chance you should visit Le Petit Champlain (you should know it from my photos on Pinterest already!) and listen to carolers. It is a small city so you can walk around all day in Christmas land. As for Montreal, the best place to visit is the old port (Vieux Port) or any café at Mile-End or Plateau and sit by the window sipping your coffee while enjoying the amazing winter view.
What do you do on Christmas day?
Actually, this is the first Christmas I will celebrate, I am Turkish and in Turkey we don’t have Christmas – but we have the same decorations and spirit, only for New Year’s. This explains why I get in the Christmas mood in mid-November and can’t get out of it until mid-January! This year I’ll be in Montreal with my husband and friends who won’t be spending it with their families, so I’m thinking a cosy dinner? Or maybe we will watch movies under a blanket, by our Christmas tree, looking at the lovely view outside…
What do you wear over the festive period?
That depends on what I have planned; for a family dinner I dress in a pair of jeans and a sweater, since I’m very pro-comfort. For parties, I usually go with trousers again with a fancier top, a blazer and heeled boots. Actually, after living in Montreal, everywhere else started to seem warm even though it’s below 0 degrees lately, so I’ve been wearing pumps or skirts and embracing a nude leg. Chic coats are a MUST for me, as they are staples in my wardrobe. I normally prefer an oversized wool coat or a faux fur one, and depending on its thickness I load up on layering underneath.
What would you like for Christmas?
I would like a Canada Goose coat, you would understand why if you had ever lived in Canada and the black Proenza Schouler ps11, my dream bag! Reiss Noma black and gold heels – hopefully just in time for New Year’s parties! Some winter candles from Dyptique, a magical powder to help me quickly lose the weight I gained after getting married and the one billion pair of shoes I have my eyes on!
