BEAT THE NEW YEAR HANGOVER

Even the most hardened of drinkers can fall by the wayside when it comes to New Year's Eve celebrations. And we find that if a hangover is ever poised to do its worst,  it tends to be on January 1st. There's no denying it, it will happen, and it could be bad, but here's what we'll be doing to ensure the first day of the year will be an enjoyable one (no matter what happened the night before).

WEAR SOMETHING COSY

New Year's Day is no time for finery, so we suggest cosying up in something warm and comforting instead. A lovely piece of knitwear will do the trick and has style with substance. Just pop your head through, hit the sofa and relax.

EAT SOMETHING TASTY

Food is vital in hangover recovery, and as those knits comfort the body, food will comfort our souls. A savoury hit will fix you, so how about a homemade pizza? Not difficult to throw together and far fresher and healthier than takeaway versions, it's an essential.

WATCH SOMETHING HAPPY

Let's face it, movement will be minimal today, so how about admiting defeat and settling yourself in front of the TV with a good DVD? Avoid anything too heavy, or you'll be weeping into your sofa cushions, and go lighthearted instead, we find an old comedy is ideal for lifting spirits.

BOOK SOMETHING FUN

If you can't stretch to a holiday, at least book a theatre trip, gallery visit or nice dinner to help you get through January. Just the thought alone rouses us from a hazy hangover, and with all those sales on, you might find a bargain flight, so go on, have a look...
