A Tale Of Two Cities: NYFW & LFW

12.09.18

Style influencer Jessica Wang (aka @NotJessFashion) gives us an insider look at New York Fashion Week and Anisa Sojka shares her London Fashion Week Highlights as they both step out in Reiss

As the kick-off for an entire month of shows, NYFW always delivers an exciting taste of what’s to come. The sidewalk becomes a runway as the fash pack descend onto the big apple and the city swarms with street style photographers.

As dressing to impress is a critical part of the agenda, influencer Jessica Wang chose to wear the loose-fit Nuria suit in a striking rust shade. Styled as a co-ord, she belted in the blazer to create a nipped-in silhouette and added the Conway bag for a complimentary pop of colour. Below, she reveals her fashion week must-haves, secrets to getting snapped and where to spy the best street style...

The vibe during fashion week is:
Very high energy and a bit restless, there’s so much to do and see but it’s always an exciting time.

My favourite place to people-watch:
The Tom Ford and Monse shows always pull in an interesting front row and the Harper’s Bazaar Icon Party is always a great place to see people glammed up.

My favourite place to party during fashion week:
I’m not usually a big party person, but occasionally, I will pop into an event to show support. This year my schedule has been particularly packed, so I only managed to make it to one event.

How to get noticed by street style photographers:
The key ingredients are a great outfit and a good attitude. There’s so many people around it’s important to stand out where you can - it also helps to smile!

The apps that get me through the week:
Glamsquad, which is an on-demand beauty service app, GPS Radar which helps me manage any collaborations and events and Google Calendar to help keep me on time.

Essential items I keep in my bag during fashion week:
Blotting paper is a must-have, especially if you’re out all day. Sunglasses are a non-negotiable accessory and of course, a portable charger for my phone.

My favourite thing about NYFW is:
I would definitely say that seeing old friends and making new connections are my favourite parts of the week.

New York style is:
Edgy and sophisticated, but it can also be daring and spontaneous. In NYC, any and everything goes!

The vibe during fashion week is:
Chaotic but fun. It can be quite intense but I love the high energy.

My favourite place to people-watch:
West London, particularly Notting Hill, seeing how other people put their outfits together is a great source of inspiration for me.

My favourite place to party during fashion week:
There are always so many parties going on during fashion week, it's hard to choose. I like to support the ones hosted by the brands I love.

How to get noticed by street style photographers:
Go bold or go home. Opt for striking colours, accessories and outerwear, it's the key to catching a photographer's eye.

The apps that get me through the week:
Instagram is my go-to, especially when waiting for a show to start. City Mapper helps me get to shows on time (and not fashionably late), and Snow is great for fun filters.

Essential items I keep in my bag during fashion week:
I'm never without a portable charger for my phone, selection of lipsticks to take me from the FROW to an after-party and of course, a between-show snack.

My favourite thing about LFW is:
How there is an endless list of things to do, people to see and places to be. From shows to events, to street style shoots - you're never bored!

London style is:
Ever changing. It's modern and colourful, daring yet sophisticated and above all: tasteful.
