Art & Craftsmanship: The Harly Dress

We reveal how layers of hand-drawn sketches, vintage photographs and mixed-medium paintings brought this unique design to life.

Ticking off three AW18 trends in one – print, colour and a Seventies silhouette – the head-turning Harly dress is a magnet for “where did you get that?” compliments. Featuring the bespoke ‘bold’ pattern created in our atelier, this botanical look is the ultimate mood (and wardrobe) enhancer, especially when set against autumn’s muted colour palette.

Not sure how to pull off such a striking pattern? Rein it in with a classic trench coat and nude court shoes that let the dress steal focus. Alternatively, you can easily dial up the energy with layers of technicolour accessories and outerwear, pulling out the splashes of green, red and blue within the design. With both work and evening appeal, it’s a wild-card wardrobe entry that promises to make a memorable impact in any setting.

Using a mixture of materials including oil paints and fluorescent markers, this pattern was pieced together, section by section.

The chameleon was brought to life using references from vintage lithographs with hand-painted details layered over the top.

The tropical montage features a blend of traditional floral sketches with photographic elements and archived botanical etchings.
