The Best Things To Do In London This September

From a gourmet hot dog to London’s smallest bar, we roundup all the great things going on in the capital this month

Enjoy the ultimate brunch experience

If there’s one thing London does very well it’s brunch and this month some of the best spots in the city are hosting exclusive menus and offers to celebrate Brunch Weekender. Our pick of the bunch? Bourne & Hollingsworth in Clerkenwell. On Sunday 23rd September, choose a dish from the brunch menu and a cocktail for just £10. With everything from huevos benedictos to eggs royale and a wide choice of drinks, including the St-Germain De Pres cocktail (St-Germain elderflower liqueur, sparkling water and Dry Dragon Real Kombucha), there’s no better way to pass a Sunday afternoon this month. And did we mention the beautiful interiors?

Sunday 23rd September

Discover London’s smallest bar

Bid goodbye to the perennial struggle of finding a quiet spot in London for a few drinks with close friends. The Brig, London’s smallest bar, offers an intimate and personal experience for a small number of people – between two and four to be precise. For £50 per person per hour, you can enjoy full and exclusive use of the bar, including your own private bartender, sole control of the music and the chance to make your own drinks. Located within the bar at Merchant House of Bow Lane, it is the perfect opportunity to dress up, round up your nearest and dearest and enjoy a bar experience unlike any other.

Autumn/Winter dates will be released on 1st September

Take a deeper look at London’s nightlife

For an insight into the nocturnal activities of London beyond the steamed windows of the night bus on a wet and windy night, the latest exhibition at Museum of London is well worth a visit. Aptly titled “London Nights”, the curation of more than 200 photographs documents the capital at night from the late-19th century right up to the present day. Putting forward a beautifully unflinching gaze at one of the greatest cities in the world during the vulnerability of night-time, if you only have time for one exhibition this month make it this one.

29th August – 11th November

Explore Mr Fogg’s newest spot

Hot on the heels of its House Of Botanicals launch, Mr Fogg’s latest outpost continues its run of thematic fun with the opening of The Society Of Exploration on 14th September. The usual eclectic, eccentric interiors are still to be found, but the establishment’s full-sized Victorian Orient Express carriage takes the crown. Complete with banquette seating and brass lamps, this is one train not to be missed. For all the effort gone into the steampunk décor, the drinks are equally as impressive in their innovation – you can even make your own thanks to the mechanical machine inspired by the inventor Rube Goldberg.

From 14th September

Arrange a date at this Blind Spot

Finding the right venue for a date can sometimes prove tricky in a city never shy of new openings, but the intimate charm and bespoke aesthetic of Blind Spot stands out among the noise. Located at St Martins Lane, this late-night speakeasy serves up signature cocktails influenced by the British Empire’s tea trade and this month, from the 25th-28th, the bar will play host to an exotic collaboration. The Clumsies – which has featured as one of the top 10 world’s best bars – will be bringing its award-winning Athenian flavours to London’s shores, so whether you fancy a taste of Greece or you’re looking to impress someone special, Blind Spot won’t let you down.

From 25th - 28th September

Claw your way in to this foodie collaboration

A month rarely passes in London without some food fusion of sorts capturing the public interest, but we’ve uncovered the one to take note of. Bringing together some of the best crab in Britain with the incredible produce of a Scottish stalwart, this month  Claw teams up with Mac & Wild to create “The Wild Claw”. Combining wild venison and Salcombe lobster with spicy Szechuan chilli, all encased in one of Claw’s signature brioche buns, this unique and gourmet take on the hot dog is every bit as delicious as it sounds. But hurry, it will only be around until the end of the month.
