How To Choose The Right Bra For Every Look

Picking the right undergarments will ensure you’re comfortable in any style. Reiss reveals what bra silhouettes you need to keep in your closet, season after season.

Much like choosing your accessories, selecting the right bra can make or break your entire outfit. Especially in summer, the arrival of backless, strapless and skin-baring ensembles can leave many women wary of being able to comfortably wear a complicated style, but with the right lingerie, you can effortlessly own any look.
We show you how…

The quickest way to ruin the silhouette of a Bardot, boatneck or bandeau style top? With bra straps. If you’re wearing anything that shows your shoulders or décolletage, a strapless bra is a must. Adopt the same approach if you’re wearing a top with any straps (thick or thin) to maintain the sleek shape of the neckline and not detract from the finish of the style.

If you’re wearing a light linen, sheer chiffon or thin fabric, your bra may be visible. Keep the look seamless by opting for a flesh tone nude bra, preferably in a t-shirt style or cotton fabric as lace or detailed materials may show through. If you’re not comfortable wearing diaphanous styles, try layering the look with a silk camisole underneath or throwing a jacket over your shoulders to add extra cover if needed.

Backless looks might seem daunting but with convertible bra straps, you can comfortably wear any low back style. Simply unclip and wrap the look as needed to hide the straps around your waist. Depending on the fit, a clear back bra that secures at the side could also be an option, alternatively, totally strap-free bras that stick directly onto your skin may be an easier choice, especially with a smaller bust.
