THE FOOTWEAR YOUR TRANSITIONAL WARDROBE SHOULDN’T BE WITHOUT

We look at how best to work the ankle boot into your everyday looks

Twice a year, at the start of spring/summer and then again at the cusp of the following autumn/winter, there’s a tricky transition whereby getting dressed in the morning can suddenly feel like somewhat of a challenge. Whilst there’s a host of tips and tricks for making this all the more manageable we’ve pin-pointed the right pair of leather ankle boots as your new all-occasion essential. Here, we look at how best to style it for now and explore the most relevant styling possibilities that it holds.

1. the WEEKEND WARDROBE

Perhaps the most obvious of all guises, the leather ankle boot makes a strong case for being the only footwear option that you need to take you from Friday to Monday. If you’re brave enough and the sun looks to be breaking through winter’s typically overcast sky, wear a mini-length skirt sans tights and layer up in spring-ready knitwear. Feeling especially fashion-forward? We suggest taking tips from the style set and showcasing a glittery sock above the top of your boots.

2. FOR EVENING EVENTS

Given that there are an array of designs, heights and heel shapes associated with ankle boots, there’s sure to be an option that lends itself just as well to evening attire as it does to day wear. The quick win is a block heeled design. Whether it’s biker-style jeans, leather leggings or an of-the-moment shirt dress that you favour for now, complete the look with a somewhat more effortless aesthetic than the expected strappy sandals.

3. DURING OFFICE HOURS

Sometimes cooler temperatures call for something a little more substantial than the classic open-front court shoe, even in the office. Enter our new favourite footwear. In black, this timeless style works particularly well with a sleek pencil skirt but steer clear of teaming it with trousers to avoid that awkward hem-meets top-of-boot conundrum. Dresses also work well and head to toe monochrome looks make a strong yet sophisticated statement.
