From scrubs to stores, we’re committed to helping in the fight against Coronavirus
As the impact of COVID-19 (coronavirus) takes hold, the critical shortage of protective personal equipment (PPE) for the NHS has been more pronounced than ever. In response to this, we have taken steps to utilise our supply chains, stores and partners to help support the production and distribution of PPE by purchasing masks and fabric to create much-needed scrubs.
The first of the initiatives includes donating 10,000 masks across the Guys & St Thomas’s NHS foundation Trust and Barts Health NHS Trust. We are working directly with factories to purchase the masks, whilst also supporting their supply chain during such uncertain times.
After working closely with Emma Willis, MBE and founder of the Style for Soldiers charity over the past few months and witnessing first-hand the incredible work she does for injured veterans, Reiss is supporting her latest initiative, Style for Surgeons, with a fabric donation to produce over 900 scrubs. The scrubs will be sewn in Emma’s factory in Gloucestershire and delivered to a network of hospitals across the UK.
"Reiss, our great supporter of Style for Soldiers, immediately offered help in their characteristically generous and pro-active way, with a donation of over 2,000 metres of pure cotton for our next 900 scrubs. I deliver every afternoon to the hospital and the thanks and gratitude for the light, comfortable scrubs worn under their boiling PPE is humbling for us all. We are all so very glad to be able to support our emergency NHS staff risking their lives for us all throughout this crisis”.

We have also partnered with the Emergency Designer Network (EDN), a volunteer-led enterprise coordinating the local production of hospital scrubs in London. The initiative, founded by London-based designers Holly Fulton, Bethany Williams and Phoebe English, comprises of small-scale UK manufacturers, designers and brands coming together as a collective to produce the critically required scrubs the NHS needs. Reiss has donated 4000m of NHS-approved fabric, enough to provide the EDN to assemble over 1,900 sets of scrubs.
In a selection of our physical stores across the UK, we will be lighting up windows with a special message of thanks to NHS staff, showing their gratitude and appreciation for the incredible work they are doing. Whilst continuing to explore further ways to support the NHS throughout the crisis, we hope these efforts will help make a small difference to those who crucially need it.
