For the series’ first instalment, we asked Mike of Quyen Mike - a London-based menswear blogger and photographer – what men’s cold weather style means to him.

Against London’s iconic backdrop, see how Mike interpreted our AW14 outerwear offering.

Behind-The-Scenes: Wonderland Film

17.10.14

Renowned fashion magazine, Wonderland, have shot an exclusive video – reminiscent of the French film noir during the 1960s – to showcase our AW14 collection. Shot in simple black and white – with a decidedly vintage-inspired feel – an intimate narrative between a young couple unfolds, sound tracked by lilting French dialogue.

Using a retro Super 8 camcorder, the male actor follows the female actor throughout the apartment – cutting quickly from one revealing shot to the next. Reversing roles, we then see the female actor as she becomes the director, and her male counterpart her muse, smoking a cigarette as he takes to the piano. Flitting between both points of view, each frame is a vivid portrayal of their intense relationship; going on to highlight certain aspects of their personalities.

Co-produced by Nick Thompson and James Willis, and styled by Kusi Kubi, the film takes place in Bethnal Green’s Town Hall hotel, the minimalist interior – think high ceilings, wooden panelled walls and ornate windows – providing the perfect backdrop to the unfolding love story.

Read on for our interview with Nick and scroll through our behind-the-scenes shots for a stylish insight into the film’s most memorable moments.

A finely tailored suit is one of the wisest wardrobe investments a man can make. Cut just so, it functions as a sartorial second skin, an armour of cloth, whether worn in the boardroom or at the bar.

This week’s Menswear Diaries demonstrates how to wear tailoring for different occasions.

HELLO OCTOBER

01.10.14

In October nights draw in, skies turn somber and the realisation that another year is nearly over dawns. Though, while the month may signal a firm goodbye to all that we hold dear about summer, it certainly has more than a few reasons to be cheerful up its sleeve. From layering knits, coats and scarves to watching leaves fall to the ground in a blaze of autumnal glory, October commences the year’s twilight moments in its crisp yet cheerful manner.

REISS CULTURE: MENSWEAR & MALEVICH

25.09.14

In a serendipitous twist of fate, on visiting the Tate Modern’s latest exhibition, ‘Malevich‘, we were struck by the visual parallels between the art great’s stylistic hallmarks and pieces from our own AW14 collection.

So inspired were we by this symmetry that to highlight the relationship we selected works from the exhibition which resonated with the same aesthetic spirit as designs from our AW14 range.

Bold, stark – yet imbued with great feeling – discover how Kazimir Malevich’s work created a rich visual language which reverberates through contemporary men’s fashion.

GLORIOUS GOODWOOD

21.09.14

Inspired by the parallels between the design of tailoring and automotives, Reiss menswear insiders embarked upon a journey to Goodwood Revival festival at the helm of two Aston Martins ( the 1965 DB5 California in Sage and the 1984 V8 Volante in Imperial Burgundy) courtesy of the Aston Martin Owners Club.

From our headquarters in the heart of London, bedecked inAW14 tailoring, our insiders took to the road as the city’s characterful architecture gave way to the Sussex countryside’s picturesque first flush of autumn.

Upon arrival our menswear insiders were met with the sights and sounds of the bygone golden age of British motorsport, luckily this glorious day out was captured snap by snap.

A GENTLEMAN’S EVENING

19.09.14

Yesterday evening saw London’s tailoring aficionados hotfoot it down to our Vigo Street store, just a stone’s throw from the hallowed Savile Row.

To the soundtrack of an in-store DJ, guests were presented with our new tailoring fabrics for AW14. Drinks flowed freely, the most popular topic of conversation was naturally tailoring and hirsute members on the guest list were whipped into shape by some on hand grooming experts. Upping the stakes for those with a need for speed, guests were also offered the chance to win an Aston Martin experience.

Read on to see how the evening unfolded.

REISS CULTURE: MEETING MALEVICH

18.09.14

Fresh from showing the most popular exhibition in its history (a riotous exploration of cut outs from that master of modern art, Henri Matisse) the team at the Tate Modern offer up yet another blockbuster exhibition. This time the country’s most celebrated modern art venue plays host to an unprecedented assembly of work from the father of the Suprematist movement, Kazimir Malevich.

Inspired by the parallels between the master painter’s work and the thematic undercurrent of bold, abstract colour in our menswear and womenswear AW14 collections, we visited the exhibition in order to understand the formation of these movement-defining works.

NYFW MEN’S STREET STYLE

12.09.14

For New York Fashion Week’s impossibly well-dressed men the bi-annual showcase is a chance to show the world why the city has garnered its hard-earned reputation as the home of some of the planet’s most sartorially savvy men.

And, while the shows of course have impeccably attired credentials, it’s no revelation to say that for many, the streets provide more practical style inspiration for followers of men’s fashion.

YOUR MIRROR STYLE WEARS REISS

06.09.14

The Reiss men’s knitwear collection for AW14 sought to fuse a fashion-forward feel with iconic design features. Step forth the Peak jumper which represents this duality of design vision. Crew-neck and ribbed, the jumper has been given a directional new aesthetic thanks to the thread’s monochrome contrast colourway.

Showcasing the knit’s impressive versatility, menswear blogger Lorenzo of Your Mirror Style wears the Peak jumper as part of a stylish off-duty look.

AW14′S KEY MEN’S JACKETS

That bitter-sweet moment has at last arrived; it’s time to fold up your shorts, pack away your short-sleeved shirts and bring your knitwear collection out of retirement. Autumn’s first chill has squarely arrived, making those extra layers pressingly important – the most crucial weapon in a style aficionado’s sartorial arsenal is surely an on-trend jacket.

We run through the buy now, wear now men’s jackets which will fend off chills and look impossibly stylish both now, and well into the season ahead.
