08.05.14

In preparation for the impending holiday season, we’ve been dreaming of sunnier climes and have put together a list of our most lusted-after poolside resorts, and a what to wear guide for each.

Whether city or beachside, in leafy forest or suspended in endless sky, each of these pools demand only the most stylish attendees.

THE POOL AT THE HANGING GARDENS UBUD, INDONESIA

Undoubtedly one of the most aesthetically and architecturally pleasing pools in the world, the split-level infinity pool at the Hanging Gardens Ubud in Indonesia was one of a few pools which instantly sprung to mind when devising our list. Created to echo the design of the terraced rice paddies so prevalent in the Ubud region, the pool’s walls are lined with Batu Chandi stone. Surrounded by reams of lush forest, watch out for passing animal life swinging through the treetops.

THE NEPTUNE POOL, HEARST CASTLE, CALIFORNIA

THE INFINITY POOL, GRACE SANTORINI, GREECE

Perched above Greece’s famed Caldera, the infinity pool at the Grace Santorini offers an uninterrupted panoramic sea view which spans for miles. The pool can also lay claim to being the largest of its kind in Santorini, an impressive feat given this island’s penchant for picture perfect bodies of water. A feat of minimalist design, this pool is a beacon of tranquility.

THE POOL AT THE QASR AL SARAB RESORT, ABU DHABI

A real oasis in the desert, the Qasr Al Sarab’s pool is a tranquil haven in the sticky heat, situated quite remotely from any other signs of civilisation. The resort’s free-form pool forms a focal point within the 206 room desert destination, letting water-lovers look out upon sand dunes and palm trees as far as the eye can see. Thankfully this impressively located pool is no mirage. www.qasralsarab.anantara.com
