IN THE DIARYMEN'SWOMEN'S
Traditionally known as a bit of a ‘dry’ month, January’s reputation precedes itself; with no booze, no carbs and no money for many of us, it’s hardly surprising we usually look forward to it coming to an end.
However, there’s plenty going on for those intent on beating the infamous January blues, and here are a few things we’ve got penciled in our diaries this month.
LONDON ART FAIR
Running from the 15th-19th January, London Art Fair is an annual exhibition of modern British and contemporary art. Showcasing work from over 120 galleries, it’s the perfect event to ease yourself into the year and offer a little creative inspiration. Tickets are £13 in advance or £17 on the door.
London Art Fair, Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, N1 OQH. Closest tube: Angel.
“IF YOU DON’T WEAR LIPSTICK, I CAN’T TALK TO YOU”
If Isabella Blow’s bold statement is something you agree with, this talk at Somerset House could be for you. Coinciding with the Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! exhibition, book in to hear Jane Richardson, International Lead Stylist for NARS Cosmetics talk through the history, emotions and trends related to lipstick on Thursday 23rd January from 7pm-8.30pm. Tickets are £15 or £12 for concessions.
The Screening Room, Somerset House, Strand, London, WC2R 1LA. Closest tube: Temple.
LOCO LONDON FILM FESTIVAL
If you are in real need of cheering up this Jan, then a good belly laugh should help. Head to the BFI Southbank, who are showing a series of funny films from the 23rd-26th January. From British to international titles, this year’s festival celebrates satire, so cheer up and enjoy four days of laughter.
BFI Southbank, Belvedere Road, South Bank, London, SE1 8XT. Closest tube: Waterloo.
Here at Reiss HQ, there’s little we love more than a Friday burger, and we’ve tried most spots in town, so we were excited to hear about a new place opening in Portobello Road at the end of the month. Following a successful pop-up in the Earl of Portobello pub, Boom Burger promises ‘boom taste & boom tunes’, and stands out from the rest, by offering burgers with loud Jamican flavours. We’re sold.
Boom Burger, Earl of Portobello, 36 Goldborne Road, London, W10 5PR. Closest tube: Westbourne Park.
