Long jumper and member of Team GB, Chris Tomlinson, competed in the Olympic stadium on Super Saturday. Finishing sixth in the final, we were cheering Chris on all the way.
Not an original Londoner, but certainly one who has taken the capital to his heart, we caught up with Chris and asked him what he loves about our capital and where his favourite city hangouts are.
London is a stylish city because…
It is so cosmopolitan, and as a result you get influences from all over the world in such close proximity. For example, you can walk the short distance from flashy Sloane Square to trendy Notting Hill and along Portobello Road and you’ll find people from different backgrounds, both ethnic and financial, living alongside one another.
My favourite place in London is…
Hampstead. I have to be biased though, as when I first came to London it was where I chose to settle. I love the area as you feel like you’re in a village setting, away from the hustle and bustle of London, yet you’re only a 10 minute drive away. With the Heath surrounding it, you are so close to nature and you can walk around for hours, and feel well and truly away from the stresses of city living.
The best place to eat would have to be the La Cage Imaginaire, which is a small restaurant next to The Flask (pub) – it’s a really nice restaurant and reasonably priced.
